When Kelly Wells of Toms River rescued a stray kitten she found in a boat motor last summer, she named him Romeo and thought he was as cute as could be. First Financial’s Facebook Fans agreed, granting Romeo first prize in the First Financial Foundation’s recent “Cutest Pet” photo fundraiser and contest.
During the month of May, those who felt they had the cutest pet were able to enter their photos in the Foundation’s fundraiser along with a $5 donation that went toward 2012 scholarships and classroom grants.
Ms. Wells and her father Walter Wells will receive a $50 Petco gift card and Romeo will be featured in First Financial’s Fall 2012 newsletter magazine.
Ms. Wells, a First Financial member said, “I knew Romeo was a cutie when I rescued him, and since then, he’s become my best friend!”
Over 193 Facebook fans participated in the contest vote, and Romeo received the majority of the votes, with 98 of them.
Since 1994, First Financial has supported the Monmouth and Ocean communities with the Erma Dorrer scholarship program. Today, that program has been extended into the First Financial Foundation to assist charitable organizations of the Monmouth & Ocean County communities.
